Mrs. Gwendolyn McCurry Duncan

February 24, 1943 - February 23, 2021

Gwendolyn McCurry Duncan, 77, wife of Harold E. Duncan, of 289 Fowler Road, West Union, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at her son’s home. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Duncan was the daughter of the late Benjamin H. McCurry and Lucy Quarles McCurry. She was a retired teacher having worked with the Oconee County School District. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, National Teachers Association, National and State Math Association, Reading Council and the South Carolina Teachers Association. She was a dispatcher for the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Duncan is survived by sons: Greg S. Duncan (Kathy) of Westminster and Michael L. Duncan (Lynn) of Pelzer; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother: Hershal McCurry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by a brother: Ben McCurry. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Davenport Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601. The family is at their respective homes.
