August 10, 1932 - March 6, 2022
Lucius Earl Thomas After a valiant effort to stay in this world, Lucius Earl Thomas passed away March 6, 2022. Although his absence causes pain, he will forever be in our hearts and we are grateful for a life well lived. Earl was born August 10, 1932 in Laconia, NH to Everett and Zera Thomas. His childhood years were spent in New Hampshire. During the Korean War, he served in the army. He also attended Drexel University. In 1955, Earl married the love of his life, Nancy Lee Walters. For the majority of his professional life, Earl worked for Wiedemann Division of Warner & Swasey as an engineer. He has several patents to his credit. He also spent a few years working with the government on air defense contracts. In retirement Earl collaborated with Clemson University to develop a sustainable aquaponics system consisting of both fish and plant production tanks. In the community, he was very involved with his homeowners association to enhance the waterfront gathering area, tennis courts, and playground in his neighborhood. Earl also enjoyed flying and was a member of the United Flying Octogenarians (active pilots over the age of 80). Earl was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, and is survived by his daughters, Donna Ralph (Brad), Lisa Harner (John); grandchildren Kathryn Jacobson (Taylor), David Ralph, and Cole Harner. We are forever grateful to the many friends and caregivers who watched over him so that he was able to live his best life in the place he loved. A private graveside service will be held followed by a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers or donations, please practice random acts of kindness in Earl's honor.
