Mr. Russell Eugene Sloan

Russell Eugene Sloan, 59, husband of Bridgett Stilwell Sloan, of 7893 Athens Road, Carnesville, GA, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital. A native of Walhalla, SC, Mr. Sloan was the son of Opal Smith Taylor (Douglas) of Walhalla and the late Ellsworth Eugene Sloan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Russell was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed restoring classic jeeps, live music, Clemson Football and showing off his tractor. In addition to his wife, mother and step-father, Mr. Sloan is survived by his sons: Russell Cory Sloan (Paige Lunsford) of Walhalla, SC and Keelan Stilwell Sloan of Carnesville, GA; daughter: Taylor Brianna Sloan of Carnesville, GA; brothers: Richard G. Sloan (Debbie) of Townville, SC and T. Keith Shanklin of Lexington, SC; and two grandchildren: Baker Sloan and Arlo Sloan. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Wednesday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted. The family is at their respective homes.
