Mrs. Sara Evelyn Underwood

September 16, 1926 - November 10, 2020

Sara Standridge Underwood, of West Union, wife of the late Henry Underwood for over 55 years, passed away at Prisma Health on November 10, 2020. She was born in Oconee County, SC to the late Otis and Della Brown Standridge. Mrs. Underwood is survived by her four sons: Larry Underwood (Mary) of West Union, Steve Underwood (Donna), Ron Underwood (Annette) and Tim Underwood (Melissa) all of Walhalla; three daughters: Peggy O’Bryant of Walhalla, Janice Moss (Robert) of West Union and Barbara Bright (Stuart) of Seneca; she is also survived by her much loved fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, ten great great-grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by a grandson: Brantley David Bright; a son-in-law: John O’Bryant; and four brothers: Clayton Smith, Joe Standridge, Clyde Standridge and Bill Standridge. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother who always made her family her number one priority for her entire life. She was loved in return by all of her large family and anyone who was able to call her a friend. Sara’s presence in everyone’s lives will be forever missed. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 13, 2020, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 100 Debra Street, Seneca, SC 29679. The family is at their respective homes.
