Mrs. Ann Lewis Coogler

Ann Lewis Coogler passed into the presence of Our Lord, on August 22, 2016. She was born March 19, 1948 in Winston-Salem, NC to Bruce and Juanita Lewis. She graduated from Southern Wesleyan University with a Degree in Elementary Education and from Clemson University with a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling Services. She taught third grade at Westminster Elementary for ten years. She was a columnist for the Daily Journal and Messenger in Seneca, SC for three years. She also had stories published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, God Allows U Turns, and she published a children's book, An Oconee Christmas. In 1970 she was married to Steve Massey. They were wed for twenty five years until his death in 1996. In 1997 she was married to Bill Coogler. They were married for thirteen years until his death in 2011. She enjoyed shag dancing, water aerobics, traveling, and playing Scrabble. She loved the Lord and was a member of Seneca Church of God. She is survived by her children: Stephanie McMann (Clay) of Clinton, SC and Michael Massey (Carrie) of Anderson, SC. She is also survived by her blended family: Bill Coogler III (Madeleine) of Austin, TX, Tony Coogler of Clemson, SC, and Rick Coogler (Karen) of Metairie, LA. In addition she is survived by six grandchildren: Stephen, Joy, and Faith McMann of Clinton, SC and Emily, Ben, and Sara Coogler of Metairie, LA. She is also survived by her beloved sister: Jean L. Fordham of Clemmons, NC, one niece Wendy Goforth (Mike) of Lexington, NÇ and one nephew, Norian Fordham (Caroline) of Clemmons, NC; her aunt Louise Cater of High Point, NC; two great nieces and one great nephew: Evva Kate, Lucy, and Norian T. Fordham. A celebration of Ann's life will be held at Davenport Funeral Home, Walhalla, SC, Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 4:00 PM. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 3:00-4:00 PM. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Walhalla, SC. The family would like to thank First Light Home Health Care and Hospice of Laurens County for their love and care.
