Mrs. Barbara Jo Davis Shaw

Barbara Jo Davis Shaw, 80, wife of Franklin D. Shaw, Sr., of 706 Quincy Road, Seneca, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019, at her home. Mrs. Barbara Jo Davis Shaw’s life began on June 5, 1939, when she was born in Townville, SC to the late Frederick Manel and Bonnie Whitfield Davis. She was their fifth child in a family of nine. Her childhood was spent running through the fields of her family’s farm and attending Townville Elementary. She graduated from Townville High School and attended nursing school at Anderson Memorial Hospital. Barbara went on to work at J.P. Stevens Manufacturing Company, where she met her husband, Franklin Delano Shaw. The two were married for sixty years, and are the proud parents of two sons, Dale Shaw and Greg Shaw. Together, Barbara and Frank were the owners and operators of Merle Norman of Clemson and Shaw’s Florist in Seneca for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Alpha Omega Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority. Barbara was the 2019 Volunteer of the year for the Oconee Relay for Life. Mrs. Shaw was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Seneca, where she was part of the Encouragers Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband: Franklin Delano Shaw; sons: Dale Shaw (Ruthie Miller) and Greg Shaw (Angelita); brothers: Clifton Davis, Richard Davis (Sandra) and Steve Davis; sister: Jeanelle Gibson (Edwin); grandchildren: Samantha Morales (Adrian), Allie Shaw, Ulrick Garrison (Natalia) and Udell Craven (Jordan); sisters-in-law: Mary Davis and Fleeta Davis; and brother-in-law: Roy Thrasher. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers: Howard Davis, Burley Davis and Hal Davis; sister: Bonnie Sue D. Thrasher; and sisters-in-law: Betty Davis and Jakana Davis. A Celebration of Life & Fellowship with hors d'oeuvres will be held from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 PM at the church.
