Mr. Gary Lee McKinney

Gary Lee McKinney, 68, of West Union, SC died peacefully on October 21, 2023 with his family by his side. Gary was born on June 4, 1955 and is survived by his wife Carla; his mother Lillian McKinney; his daughters Carissa Cochrane and her husband David, and Bailey McKinney; sister Susan Thrift and her husband Mike. Gary will be remembered for the legacy of his craftsmanship found in many people's homes throughout the community; his guitar and musical skills that have touched the hearts of many; and his willingness to put others' needs before his own. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Oconee Memorial Hospital, especially Nurse Leigh, Nurse Vanessa, and Nurse Margaret, for the exceptional kindness and care they showed Gary and his family in his final days. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Oconee Memorial Hospital Foundation, designated to Hospice of the Foothills. Donations may be mailed to OMH Foundation, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
