Born November 15, 1921 in St. Charles, IL to John Griggs and Clara Charlotte (Nielsen) Parquette; great granddaughter to Ephriam and Sarah Perkins, one of first three families settling St. Charles in 1835 after wagon journey from New Hampshire. Graduate Chicago Cook County School of Nursing; BS in Journalism and Master’s Degree in English from the University of IL; RN at Chicago’s Cook County Hospital, Urbana’s McKinley Hospital and Rushville’s Culbertson Memorial Hospital; Bradley Univ. English Department faculty member 1966-1983 and Academic Advisement Coordinator 1972 - 1983. St. Mark’s Parish, Peoria, IL lector; St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Seneca, SC lector; St. Mark’s Coordinating Council, first president; Peoria Diocesan Pastoral Council, secretary for two years; Peoria Cursillo in Christianity member 25 years. Orchid grower 40 years; Peoria Orchid Society, organizer; Blue Ridge Orchid Society, SC organizer. Pettengill-Morron House, Peoria Historical Society, tour guide. Married Jay True Dodge of Rushville, IL August 21, 1948 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Champaign, IL. He survives with eight children: James True (Constance) of Atlanta, GA; Laura Dodge Havran (Richard), Peoria, IL; Mary Pat Dodge Heintzman (Michael), Salem, OR; Cynthia Dodge Smith (Michael), North Bend, WA; Rebecca Dodge Mollet (Arthur, deceased), Escondido, CA; Susan Dodge Cassidy (Lewis), Bluemont, VA; Jay Michael Dodge (Diana), Peoria, IL; Rachel Dodge Miller (Kevin), Morton, IL.; thirteen grandchildren: James Patrick Dodge; Andrew Havran (Marie), Lisa Wink (Brian), and Margaret Havran; Jonathon, Rebecca and Joseph Heintzman; Dylan Dodge Cassidy; William and Anthony Dodge; Jay True, Emelia, and Finn Miller; one sister: Dorothy Scott (Bob), St. Charles, IL; four great grandchildren: Morgan and Adam McClain; Reagan Mary Havran and Cora Leigh Wink. Grandson Brian Dodge and two sisters, Caroline Littlejohn and Olive Brock, preceded in death. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Seneca, SC, followed by a reception.
