Mr. Joe Earl Davenport

Seneca, SC–Joe Earl Davenport, 88 of Seneca, passed peacefully into his eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 20, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family. Joe was the son of the late Leila Mary (Welborn) and George Reeves Davenport. Joe is a proud veteran who served his country in the Army from 1956-1958 and served his community as Mayor of Pendleton from 1975-1981. Joe leaves behind his wife: Linda Davenport; his daughter: Patti and her husband Ken Roper of Pendleton; a son: Mike and his wife Bonnie Davenport of Anderson; step children: Westley and his wife Shannon Elliott of Seneca, Joey Elliott of Seneca, Robin Terry and Jason Lusk of Seneca and Brett and his wife Weeda Elliott of Westminster; grandchildren: Brittney and her husband Jon Autry of Anderson and Hampton Davenport; a great-granddaughter: Marlee Autry; step-grandchildren: Blake, Anna (Andrew), Emma, Harrison, Jonathan (Celeste), Austin (Emily) and Zack; and a step-great grandsons: Brock and Braxton; and step-great granddaughters: Abby and Grace; and brother: Louie and his wife Ann Davenport of Irmo, SC. Joe retired as Supervisor from Bell South after serving his community for over 30 years. Joe was an active member and Sunday School teacher of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He served in other churches working with missions teaching adults. Joe has always enjoyed the outdoors, spending time on the farm caring for his horses and a variety of other animals. The love for outdoors remained a special part of his daily activities. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by three brothers: Charles Davenport, Rev. James Davenport and George Davenport; and two sisters-in-law; Margaret Davenport, and Betty Davenport. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Davenport Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Thursday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or the family welcomes donations to be made in memory of Joe to Medical Services of America, 1659 Sandifer Blvd., Seneca, SC 29678. MSA Hospice cared for Joe during this final season of his life.
