Louise Addison Tuten

Seneca, SC—Louise Addison Tuten, 91, of 204 Mockingbird St., Seneca, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 3, 2010, after a short stay at the Cottingham Hospice House. Born on September 29, 1919, Louise was the daughter of the late Ezekiel William and Marie Rouse Addison. She loved her hometown of Brunson, SC, where she was born and lived most of her life until she moved to Seneca in 2004 to be close to her daughter and family. She was graduated from Brunson High School and attended Columbia College. While a student at Columbia College, she was offered a contract to model in New York City, which she turned down to fulfill her dream of becoming a wife and mother. She was an employee of the SC Electric and Gas Company until her retirement after 35 years of service. She was a life-long member of the Brunson Baptist Church, where she kept the nursery for fifty years. After moving to Seneca, she attended the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Louise enjoyed being with her family and friends, reading her Bible, gardening, working in her yard, canning vegetables, and cooking. Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Carolyn Tuten Ross, and husband Lowell; granddaughter, Sharon Lynne Ross; great-grandson, Tripp William Tuten Ross, all of Seneca, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Leah Addison Lightsey, and brothers, James Clyde Addison and William Edgar Addison. Graveside services were conducted at 2:30 PM at the Brunson Cemetery on November 5, 2010. Fellowship with family and friends followed at the Brunson Baptist Church. The family is grateful for the excellent care and compassion provided by Louise’s doctors, nurses, and caregivers and appreciative of the love, support, and many kindnesses generously given by family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Brunson Baptist Church, Brunson, SC 29911; Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 214 Northampton Road, Seneca, SC 29672; Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672; or to a charity of one’s choice.
