Mrs. Joanne Edna Stark

Joanne Edna Stark, 79, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Seneca, South Carolina. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Ronald — her steadfast partner in faith, family, and love. A Mass of the Resurrection to celebrate Joanne’s life will be held at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Seneca on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Joanne was a radiant soul whose gentle spirit and unwavering faith touched every heart she encountered. Joanne was active in her church community throughout her life. She was devoted to the Adult Faith Formation program and Prayer Shawl Ministry at St Paul’s. She was a passionate team member on numerous Marriage Encounter weekends and Christ Renews His Parish retreats, where she helped many couples and individuals renew their commitment to God and one another. Joanne fulfilled a promise made to herself as a child when she and her husband adopted two infants, expanding a family already rich in love, laughter, and faith. Joanne’s passion for service was limitless. She worked as a paraprofessional in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, and later became a devoted caregiver for the children of a neighborhood family. After retiring to South Carolina, she poured her compassion into volunteering at a local pregnancy care center, offering comfort, guidance, and hope to women in need. Joanne had a gift for making others feel seen, known, and blessed. Family and close friends were often embraced with a gentle touch and blessing upon parting — a sacred ritual that left all who knew her feeling uplifted and deeply loved. Birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions were never forgotten. In her limited spare time, Joanne enjoyed making pottery, knitting, sewing, reading, doing word puzzles and taking walks. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Joanne was the eldest of five children of the late Everett and Cecelia Liddicoat. She leaves behind a loving family: sons Todd Stark, Brian Stark (Shelly); daughters Laurie Clark (Michael), Tania Stark, Christy Doskocil (Michael); her sister Mary (Liddicoat) Hansen; brothers Richard, Robert, Don, and Gary Liddicoat; and nineteen cherished grandchildren. Her absence will be felt deeply but the love she showed will remain. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foothills Care Center, Seneca and Clemson locations. The family is being assisted by the Davenport Funeral Home.
